French Polynesia : climate and when to go to Papeete
Located on the northern edge of the subtropical high pressure belt of the southern hemisphere, French Polynesia is practically all the year under the influence of the trade winds of the eastern sector. The convergence of the northeast and southeast trade winds creates a disturbed zone called the South Pacific Convergence Zone (ZCPS). It is on this discontinuity that the cyclonic perturbations that affect French Polynesia, generally from January to March, develop. Its climate is tropical maritime type. There are two seasons: the warm season from November to April, the cool season from May to October. French Polynesia can be divided into three climatic zones: - the first encompasses the Marquesas Islands, the two seasons are little differentiated in temperature and humidity, in rainfall rather low and equally distributed throughout the year. - the second includes the archipelagos of the Society and the Tuamotu, the two seasons are well differentiated as regards the rainfall regime with a very sharp maximum during the warm season. - the third is of interest to the archipelagos of the Australes and the Gambier, and the south-east of the Tuamotu, the two seasons are very distinct as regards temperatures. The rainfall is strong but the maximum in the warm season is less accentuated. the two seasons are distinct in temperature. The coolest month is June, if you can not stand the heat too much. The driest month of the year is August, if you do not like the rain at all.

The average temperature and sunshine deviations between summer and winter are 24%. This small gap means that the temperature at sea does not really vary and that the sea remains warm enough in summer and winter. The air is also hot all year round without great thermal amplitude.

Weather uncertainties 2023 to go to Papeete ?

When traveling in the tropics as a seaside, rain is not welcome. If you see this indicator, with possible storms, that does not mean that it will rain all day long. When we observe the local rainfall, it is either really zero or very weak. Meteorologists prefer to be pessimistic. So observe below, the skies photographed during a week announced stormy in Asia. It did not rain once. I invite you to integrate this parameter before going to Papeete for a good trip to the sun!
